Twenty-seventeen has been another incredible year of growth and learning for the team at Spicy Web. We accept change as a constant, so it's important to reflect on what we have achieved, despite there still being so much to do. Here’s a look back through the year.

Back in January, our newest recruit Alison joined us on our marketing team. Bringing creative thinking and enthusiasm in droves, Alison has fit right into the team, proving to knock it out of the park with her client list.

We’ve continued long and rewarding relationships with organisations like RCA Villages and Pragmatic Education Group, where we continue to see incredible results month-over-month. As always, we’ve welcomed a whole swag of new clients into the mix, too. From small businesses through to established global organisations and more.

Since becoming a Google Premier Partner — we’re only one of 20 selected for Google’s coaching program, it’s kind of a big deal — we’ve been lucky to work closely with the team at Google, presenting a number of fantastic opportunities; we’ve made the trek up to Sydney for Google Masterclass, YouTube Guru Program, Google Business Coaching, speaking at the AusPet Expo and even hosted our own AdWords events for local business in Frankston and Melbourne, where we were able to meet new people and discuss the challenges and opportunities of running a business online.

Meanwhile our website team continue to raise the bar in design and development. We’ve launched over 30 websites, developing highly customised eCommerce platforms for national brands, creating beautiful and effective information websites for international service businesses and everything in between.

Our team has doubled-down on our favourite (and the best content management system) Craft CMS. We’ve spent 2017 becoming more involved in the community, developing our boilerplate to better provide our clients an incredible CMS that makes managing content a breeze while also reducing the overheads of developing custom websites.

We’ve also leveraged our in-house design skills, and have begun offering graphic design services, allowing us to work with new and existing clients to develop incredible, flexible, and creative branding for their businesses.

In August, after months of planning designing, coding, writing, and content creating, we finally launched our new website. The new site is better representative of our business in 2017; an even split between online marketing and custom website design. A more holistic display of our case studies. And most importantly, a greater focus on the people who make Spicy Web so great through the use of photography and video.

The website proved to be a hit, winning a swag of industry recognition for our team. A fantastic result, and a proud moment for me in particular.

What else have we been doing? Andrew proved once-again that he is the go-kart champion. We hit the road to the beautiful Grampians for our end of year trip. Slack became integral to our internal processes. We’ve instigated a morning briefing — a five minute chat where we each discuss our goals and objectives for the day. Every month we had our team meetings where we get to share what we’ve been working on. We’ve also begun an every-other-fortnightly team education day, where we spend some time learning something new and outside of our bubble.

So, what’s in store for the year ahead? 2018 will be another year of growth and refinement. We’ll continue to work with like-minded people who are dedicated to doing great things. We’ll keep building our team, but only if we really need to, and only if they’re the perfect fit. We’ve already begun construction to expand our office, which will give us more break out space for client meetings (and power naps).

I’d like to extend a huge thanks to everybody who made this year a fantastic one. Most of all, our fantastic team who continue to excel, producing exceptional work and building a strong culture here at Spicy Web. Our incredible clients to put their faith in us to deliver results. And our partner agencies and creatives who assist us in doing so.

See you in 2018.
