This year marks the 30th anniversary of World Wide Web, first proposed by Tim Berners-Lee on March 11th, 1989. This was when the “internet” — which dated back to the 60s when it was developed by the military — was opened up as a wider network for the public.
To mark the occasion, the Web Design Museum has put together a fantastic online exhibit of over 1,600 carefully curated websites that show web design trends between the years 1991 and 2006. It’s an incredible resource which showcases the websites of major brands like Apple, Google and Netflix. It’s incredible to see how quickly design trends and styles change.
Coincidentally, 2019 also marks the 10th anniversary of Spicy Web. So, we thought we’d take our own trip down memory lane with a showcase of our visual evolution on the web.
